Rosè Wine
Rosè, or sometimes Rosado, wines are so-named for their characteristic colour and are considered by some as a ‘niche’ product that has recently become part of the Italian wine consumer tradition. Rosè wines are produced from either red grapes or from a prevalence of white grape with the addition of red to give the wine its characteristic colour. Rosè wines are fresh, smooth and aromatic and are particularly suitable for the summer months due to the tendency to drink them cold. Very apt for accompanying an aperitif, they are also suitable for accompanying lighter meat, fish and seafood dishes. Another wine variety that is much appreciated for certain occasions is the sparkling rosè wine, which is categorised somewhere between dry whites and over-sweet reds. Sparking rosè wine is a half-way point, a delicate, semi-sweet taste that is ideal for accompanying more delicate dishes.
